FAQ
Overhaul & Replacements
What models of TEIN suspension are available for overhaul
Most TEIN shock absorbers are eligible for either overhaul service or replacement service (replacing only the core component).
When do I need overhaul
Your shock absorber needs overhaul once in 2 to 3 years or approximately 30,000 to 40,000 km if you mainly drive on city streets. If you enjoy sports driving, we advise roughly once a year.
How much does overhaul cost
Overhaul and replacement charges depend on the damper's condition therefore are priced by individual case. Please contact TEIN directly for further information on this service.
Damping Force Adjustment
How do I adjust Damping Force
You can adjust damping force using the adjustment dial (click) on the shock absorber. Setting 0 is stiffest and 16 softest. Turn clockwise for stiffer setting and counter clockwise for softer setting.
My 16-level adjustment dial (click) turns more than 16 clicks
The adjustment dial, depending on the structure of the shock absorber is able to rotate 17 or more clicks. This is normal and has no effect on the damping itself which will only go up to 16 however it can damage your damper if you drive with it set over click 16.
Which damping force level do you recommend
TEIN states the "recommended value" found in the user manual supplied with your product. This setting provides the optimum balance between ride comfort and maneuverability. Start with the recommended setting provided and adjust gradually from there according to your preference and driving style / conditions.
Do EDFC series' 32-, 64- or 96- level mode broaden the damping range
These modes offer a finer adjustment per damping force level, providing a more precise setup. They do not broaden the range of damping force adjustment. Switching from 16- to 32-level enables fine-tuning at 1/2 of each original level, and to 64- & 96-level increases precision to 1/4 & 1/6 original levels respectively.
